The main duty of Congress is to create laws; additionally it carries out the following duties:

Constituent Duties:

In order to reform the Constitution through Legislative Acts.

Legislative Duties:

In order to elaborate, interpret, reform and repeal Laws and Codes in all branches of Legislation.

Political Control Duties:

In order to subpoena and summon Cabinet Ministers and other authorities; and in order to know about charges filed against State senior officers. The vote of no confidence and the vote of compliance could be some of the conclusions of political responsibility.

Judicial Duties:

In order to exceptionally judge State Officials on political responsibility.

Electoral Duties:

In order to elect General Comptroller, Attorney General, the Judges of the Constitutional Tribunal and the judges of the Jurisdictional and Disciplinary Court of the Superior Judiciary Board, Public Defender, and Vice-president in the case of total absence.

Administrative Duties:

In order to establish the structure and operation of Full Congress, Senate, and the House of Representatives.

Public Control Duty: In order to subpoena any individual or legal entity with the purpose of testifying oral or written statements about facts related to investigations carried out by the Commission.

Protocol Duties:

In order to welcome Presidents or Chiefs of State from other Countries.
